WE MAKE SUSTAINABILITY SEXY

We create sustainable design solutions for business without sacrificing creativity. Details matter and a lot can add up, so we make sure we are reducing as much material without reducing marketing opportunities.

We create branding that dives deep into the unique story.

We highlight the environmental efforts made by businesses to engage market and customer brand loyalty. Sustainable packaging and branding is our main game. We also build energy efficient websites hosted on green web servers.

WORK PROCESS

01-

WHAT DO YOU WANT?

GOAL SETTING

What are goals for your business? We will explore what it means to you to be successful. Goals that are measurable, specific, have time frame.

For example, how do you want to measure brand engagement? Is that increases social media followers or email subscribers? Would you like to move off of print and into digital? Do you want to obtain a new sustainable business process and you want to share that with your customers to gain loyalty?

02 –

WHAT DOES YOUR NICHE WANT?

IDENTIFYING THE DESIGN PROBLEM

After we have clear goals, we will research your specific industry, competition and market treads. We include all stakeholders in the project who have goals as well.

We come up with typical user personalities or profiles and research what pain points, confusion, or frustrations they have. We connect the users to the goals to determine who and what is being affected.

03 –

LET’S BECOME UNIQUE

CREATING DESIGN OUTCOMES

This is the creative stage of the process, coming up with new and fresh ideas. Here we map out audiences and problems in a system. We ask, would this be digital or print? Who is being reached and what problems would be solved. We come up with a variety of solutions and looks at the most effective ones reaching the most people.

04 –

CHECK THE BOXES WITH THE ENVIRONMENT

EVALUATING WITH PEOPLE, PLANET & PROFIT

Narrowing down to a select solutions, we look at how each has an effect on the environment, people, and money. We look at the material like paper, energy for a website, resources like shipping and ask how we could reduce the impact? We look at the bigger picture of the life cycle of the product of the solutions.

04 –

ADDING VALUE ON THE TOP

GROWING FORWARD

This step is hard to do, but we look at how we could give back, make a positive impact or upcycle. A great example would be printing on seed paper because the project would be adding either flowers or veggies to a customer’s yard. Adding positive messaging like instructions on how to recycle adds value easily.

APPROACHES

BRANDING APPROACH

SHOW IT OFF.

STORY
Every person, company and brand has an origin story that went through challenges and obstacles. It is hard to keep the planet and people in mind while thinking about profit. We work with you to tell your authentic journey to your customers. You’re marketing to a tough crowd who research brands deeply. Well made products which the user can get to know and assign value to in the long-term is our goal. By establishing emotional durability with a business, the product itself avoids a trip to the trash.

DELIVERABLES
We will try our darndest to print on recycled paper, make sure there is minimum packaging waste and your website will be energy efficient. All of these things help your authority and reputation and we don’t want to leave it behind!

CERTIFICATIONS
We will help you do the research and help you gain the requirements to get certified with established organizations. If there is a hurdle in the way, we will do our best to bring you as close as possible, and let your customers know you are getting there.

INFOGRAPHICS/ICON SYSTEMS
Showing energy savings data or any other boring numbers are much more engaging when told visually! We go beyond the pie chart to tell the story of statistics. Its is a great way to communicate sustainability efforts that come from the excel spreadsheet.

PACKAGING APPROACH

PHYSICAL SUSTAINABILITY

REDUCE
The first and most impactful thing we look at is reducing the material, resources and processes needed to create a package without compromising structure or transportation durability. By working on a package that is, at its core, built with the least amount of material is the ultimate goal. Less stuff is less waste.

REUSE
At the product’s end of life, we want to make sure that opportunities to reuse the package is possible. Reusability could come in the form of taking on another life. The packaging could avoid the trash all together and serve as a storage container. Implementing a refilling system could keep the branding intact while.

RECYCLE
Designing for disassembly is crucial. Products need to have clear recyclability instructions so that the materials will end up in the correct recycle center. With a package that is easy to take apart, the materials will be brought back into the system efficiently and avoid the landfills.

MATERIAL
Printing on post-consumer waste at any level is doing a lot of good. There are alternatives to tree fiber like hemp, kenaf, agricultural waste and cotton are becoming cheaper and more available. Other technologies in ink and material design are coming in to replace traditional packaging products. 3D printers are starting to produce packaging that is made from biodegradable compounds. It is all about the research at this stage to find out what is available and possible in the world of materials.

WEB APPROACH

ELECTRONIC SUSTAINABILITY

GREEN HOSTING
It is easy to forget that using our electronics also creates a carbon footprint. No matter how much we avoid printing, we are still consuming a lot of energy to power our laptops and smartphones. Web hosts have the option of storing their data with renewable resources like wind and solar. Choosing to go with a green web host reduces the amount of carbon used to visit the site. Some hosts also provide the opportunity to buy energy credits to offset your website.

UX/UI
The most important information should be first. If users are getting the information they need instantly, frustration will not be an issue. Customers can be guided to purchase from your site quickly. Interface design is a great way to reduce user frustration and decrease the amount of energy websites require to function.

FAST & SMALL
Websites can become slow and heavy very fast. There can be a lot of data that is being sent and received by your website. We can design a site for you that provides all the information you need to provide, but skim off the unnecessary code and content.
